Hello Again!

Today is 12/17/24 and today I worked on Round & Round.


Round & Round is an RPG where players take on the role of their favorite hero inside the Gazbee Universe. I should make another post about what and WHO Gazbee is exactly. For now, Gazbee is a corporation that makes family friendly content for people who work too much at their job. They're cool :)


So, Round & Round is a game that features the hero's from The Gazbee Corporation. With these hero's, your objective is to complete quests to earn loot, to complete more quests AS WELL AS defeating bad guys AND fighting your friends in the arena. Pretty cool IMO.


That said, its tough to make an RPG with 50 something story lines and collectibles and other elements.


Today, I worked on the rules. I laid out a backstory for what makes the game what it is, a bit of world building if you will.


Then I was going to add in the characters but thought instead of making 6 characters I should continue the rules of how to engage with the game.


I then went to the dentist and had a nice time there. No its not game design related but the hygienist taught me a few interesting things:

1) Find people who have good sleep schedules and eat properly

His point with this was that these are the basis for finding energy throughout the day and if the people you surround yourself with are low on energy, you'll find that you're giving more than you would like to try and fill their gas tanks, if you will.

2) Make life interesting

He was a dental hygienist. A pretty interesting job. However, he calls himself a plumber because he's dealing with the filthiest part of the human body. I thought that was kinda silly and enjoyed his allegory.


Back to game design.

I came home, worked on the objectives for the game which are:

1) Completionist

Complete all the quests in the given time period

2) Warrior

Slay all the enemies and claim victory in the arena

3) Under contruction

Not sure what the third should be yet. Maybe just a question mark?

As a fan of games I was never huge on this concept but I think it works and allows the player to explore for this final objective without giving it away.

There will be ways of leading the player towards this goal.


That was about all I did for R&R today. It felt a little lack luster of a work day but I'm learning not to hold myself to a standard of "get X amount of work done" because frankly I was tired working and didn't have my usual zest.
