I’m still in the library and still have some work to finish before I would like to call it quits for the day, however I had a fun “morning”

I made a new Micro-game called Cards & Pages.

I realize I didn’t explain Micro game in the last post… A micro game is a simple game with simple components. Not a mini-game, as part of a larger game, but a game that could stand on its own. 

Cards & Pages is played with a deck of cards for every 2 people you have. You also need a piece of paper per person. And a pen for over half of the people. (sometimes you can have odd numbers)

The game is simple. For a 2 player game, P1 will draw 5 cards and try to combine them to make 21. They get bonus points for making it BlackJack, a 2 card draw or 5 card draw. They can discard if they’re unable to make 21. 

At the same time, P2 will be counting as high as they can on the paper. The numbers must be legible, if not, lose 1 point per. P2 will start the timer.

At the end of 60 seconds, trade roles and compare. 

If you win 1/2 turns, add one point. If you win 2/2 turns, add 3 points. First to 10 wins. If tied at 10, play one round of Pages from 1 and the most numbers wins. 

A simple enough game, but something I haven’t really seen before. Something that drove the ideas here was Chess Boxing. A game where players play chess for some time, then box for some time. Either a KO or Checkmate wins the game.

I like the concept of playing two games at once, and with Cards & Pages, both players are active at all times. 

There is luck and skill involved which makes it funner. And competition of course!

Okay, I’m gonna eat an apple outside and then do some work on rules maybe. Maybe the virtuous cycle. Maybe storylines in R&R. 

Idk but I’ll do something exciting.
